August 21st 2025 by Monet Noriega
Trusting God as a single mother can seem daunting. Believe me, I know. This is one of those posts that come from personal experience; I walk this walk. While each single mom has unique circumstances and trials, there is a shared undercurrent of deep need for the Lord-especially when there is no one to turn to.
The links below will bring you to posts that share the top three things that can help a single mom trust in God and tips on how to get started.
Top Three Ways for Single Moms to Trust in God
Learn what God says about Himself and who He is
It is hard to trust someone you do not know. This is why getting to know who God actually is, is of supreme importance. Getting to know God is a process. As we grow in our faith we grow in our knowledge of God-not just as an understanding in our minds, but relationally in our hearts. There are many misconceptions about who God is. We must make getting to know the truth about God top priority.
John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
We are able to bring all of our requests and concerns to our Creator! God encourages us to bring all things to Him in prayer. He loves and care for you.
Philippians 4:6-7…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Develop Spiritual Disciplines in the Midst of Chaos
The challenges of single motherhood seem incompatible with the word “discipline.” Scripture tells us that the Spirit God gives us is one of power, love and self-discipline. You CAN practice disciplines (even in chaos) because the Holy Spirit will help you! These practices help to remember the truth about God when doubts and feelings of discouragement arise.
2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
